Full Tummies, Happy Hearts

We had such a fun-filled Thanksgiving day... I couldn't wait to blog about it (since that's my form of scrapbooking)!

The day began with a beautiful table setting:

Josh's mom brought the fall-colored table cloth, and we got to use our China for the first time.

Do you see that centerpiece?! Josh made it from the cedar branches he took from Barneyville a few weeks ago. I just love it. I was so impressed with his creativity and workmanship!

Next, we ate a delicious meal (of course) and we began a few traditions.

First of all, we each wrote things for which we were thankful on the white board. (Great idea, Elisa!)

Then we played an intense game of Scrabble. Last Thanksgiving was my first time to play Scrabble with the Owen family. I remember being shocked by how competitive they are in this game. You see, both of Josh's parents have been English teachers and they know some huge words. But surprisingly, I won a round last year. This year Josh took the victory. Here's a picture of Josh's mom in mid-play:

See how intense she is? It's serious stuff, my friends.

Lastly, we went on a walk through the park:

Not quite as pretty as the scenery in Concan (where we spent last Thanksgiving), but not too bad for Bryan, TX. (FYI, that stroller does a great job off-roading!)

Oh, and of course we took some family pictures:

After the family left, Josh played his brand new harmonica for Riley:

He had lost his old harmonica and his dad gave him this new one today. He was super excited, and I was too because I love to hear him play it.

The day ended with the football game. Our neighbors down the street projected the game onto sheets hung over the cables. It was super extravagant. They invited us to watch the game with them, but Riley was already asleep, so we stayed at our house.

See, I told you it was a fun-filled day!

Josh was on standby all day but only got called out once in the morning, so he didn't end up missing any of the festivities. What an answered prayer!

I'm looking forward to continuing our traditions next year and I'd love to hear about any Thanksgiving traditions you have. Feel free to leave a comment telling me your Thanksgiving traditions. And since it's Thanksgiving, I'll go ahead and thank all of my readers, and especially my commenters, out there. I have no idea why you read this dinky little blog, but I'm glad you do. Thanks!
