Confession

I have a confession to make.

Until today I had never actually mopped my house.

Since we moved in to this place, I've been swiffering. I have an issue with dirty floors (probably because I love being barefoot). Thus, swiffering had become an easy, but rather expensive, habit.

So I finally broke the habit. I bit the bullet. I faced my fear.

And as it turns out, mopping was not so bad after all. It didn't take half as long as I had expected and I think the floors got much cleaner than they had been getting with the swiffer.

So it's time to say goodbye to my swiffer. I may miss the convenience, but I don't think I'll miss the extra dollars I'll be saving. Adios, swiffer!

By the way, does anyone have any tips for cleaning grout? I probably won't ever make the time to do it, but I can't stand having dirty grout. So if you know a somewhat quick and easy way to clean grout, I want to look into it.

My sister-in-law had grout on her kitchen counter tops b/c they were tiled. She put the liquid diswashing soap all through them and let it sit there for a couple hours. I'm not sure how practical that would be with an infant and then staying out of your kitchen for a couple hours, but it seemed to work.

To prevent all the yuckiness from happening through, be sure to seal your grout! Most builders even in new homes don't seal so you have to do it yourself. I'm not sure if it's too far gone in your place but it's worth a try to prevent future grossness :)

Hey Kelly. To clean tile in our bathroom we use tilex bathroom cleaner and then the extra hard spots we go back with those clorox bleach pens and just trace over the spots.

Kelly - I haven't tried it but I think you can use a Clorox bleach pen to run over the grout.

And I have yet to mop our house either...eeek! I didn't even own a mop until recently, and I had to call my mom to ask what I needed. I'm trying this weekend - we'll see how it goes! (And as easy as Swiffering is, I thought it kind of just pushed all the dirt around instead of really cleaning!)

Your family is adorable!

Windex works on them.

I can't give up on my swiffer...love it. Since I have wood floors, I just use a spray bottle with Murphy Oil and water and spray ahead of me. It will last forever!!!
