30 for 30 Months

When Riley turned 17 months old, I wrote a post describing 17 things I love about her. Well, Josh and I have been married for 30 months, so I thought it'd be fun to write a post describing 30 things I love about him. Here it goes:

I love...

1. how he tenderly cares for me when I'm sick, bringing me water or Tylenol or blankets... whatever I need at the moment. (And this says a lot, since I've been sick for almost all of the past eight months.)

2. how he never fails to make me laugh. He's just so stinkin' goofy!

3. how he's constantly trying to find one of my favorite songs to play on the iPod.

4. how if he's in the car with me, he never makes me drive!

5. how we have the same ideal vacation: exploring the Montana mountains, but we'll be happy with a much cheaper trip to Colorado, too!

6. how he's so good at showing me "the big picture" and teaching me about God's Word. It is a treasure to get to sit and learn from him. God has truly gifted him with the ability to teach (me, in particular).

7. how he absolutely adores Riley Jane and can't even stand to go one night without her.

8. how he already has a super long list of things he's going to teach little Joshua, like how to pitch a tent and shoot a BB gun.

9. how he's obsessed with war movies. (Ok, I don't always love this, but I do always get a kick out of his explanation for how they teach about leadership and therefore, they are somehow worth watching over and over again.)

10. how he can still pick me up and pop my back at 35 weeks pregnant. Ha, now that's just plain scary! I'd kinda like to see a picture of how silly it must look.

11. how he's always thinking of little ways to show me that he cares about me during the day... like sweet text messages or surprise lattes.

12. how he doesn't complain when I give him a "honey do list." He just selflessly does it! Absolutely amazing!

13. how he enjoys being with my family and encourages me to have "girl time" with my mom and sisters.

14. how he reads my blog and sometimes comments :)

15. how he hates to lose to me in Scrabble or Catan.

16. how he continues to buy fabric for me, imagining that one day I will become a sewing homemaker. (Still don't think I've ever threaded my own needle... I have a long ways to go to make his dreams come true.)

17. how he's so creative. Just this morning he described a really neat idea he had to display little Joshua's name above his bassinet. I'll have to post a picture of it if he finds time to do it soon.

18. how he can always save my meals and make them taste way better than I can!

19. how he knows every story about my life, but still listens to me when I repeat them. And even laughs sometimes!

20. how he puts up with my constant reorganization of the house.

21. how he's committed to our family and our goals, no matter what it costs him.

22. how he's always buying candles to make our house smell good.

23. how he gets way too excited over silly gifts like a power hose or an Aggie gnome.

24. how he daily enlightens me to very strange videos, such as "The Leprechaun." If you've seen the video, you know what I'm talking about. Oh, the classic amateur sketch!

25. how he takes me on dates to Target and Chik-fil-A. My faves!

26. how he constantly checks CraigsList whenever we need to make a big purchase, in order to find the best deal.

27. how he seeks out wisdom from older, wiser men.

28. how he promises a life of adventure for our family. And so far, he has definitely delivered!

29. how he smiles at me first thing in the morning and always greets me with a kiss and a hug. And it usually has to be a good ol' bear hug! He doesn't put up with sissy hugs.

30. how he makes this list way too easy to write. Josh, I could have gone on and on. It has been nothing short of a total blessing to watch you grow in the LORD as a husband (and father) over the past 30 months. Thank you for loving me so well and making my role as your helpmate so much fun!

Great post for the valentine week. Glad to hear there are others who love Catan.
