Sick and Spoiled

I know it's a strange title, but it's a strange story too.

You see, my husband knows just exactly how to serve me.

I'm sick. Awful sick, horrible sick. Sniffles, sore throat, earache, itchy eyes, nausea, the whole shebang. I truly don't remember the last time I felt this bad, which calls for a HUGE praise to God because I used to be known in my family as "the sickling."

In addition, it might be the first time I've been sick that I haven't felt any pericarditis at all. Truly, I was thinking back to this time last year and I had already been in and out of the hospital several times since August. God heals. Hallelujah!

Anyways, back to my story. As miserable as I feel, my main concern has been making sure that Riley doesn't get sick and that all of her needs are met, of course. Last night I kept thinking, "How am I going to take care of Riley when I can hardly climb out of bed?" She has been extra fussy lately and I was afraid she was catching what I had, but I didn't want to express all of this to Josh and make him feel bad for leaving us to go to work.

Well, guess what?! This morning I woke up to a delicious breakfast in bed, complete with hot cocoa (the dark chocolate kind)! Josh had gotten up super early and gone to the store to get stuff to make an English muffin with sausage, egg, and cheese. I slept through the whole thing and didn't wake up until he came into the room with the meal. What a nice surprise!

Then he told me that he had taken the day off so he could stay home and take care of his family. I was shocked. He's been on standby so much lately (all of the Thanksgiving holiday and several weekends). He finally takes a day off and spends the whole time serving me!

I'm not kidding. I slept on the couch all day while he took care of everything else.

I only got up to go see the amazing Dr. Bacak, who confirmed that I have a nasty bacterial infection and sent me home with some good antibiotics. I took Riley with me so he could make sure she was ok. He assured me that while it is possible for her to get sick, it is unlikely because my breastmilk has antibodies in it. God is so cool, how He protects our little ones! (The fussiness is probably from teething.)

After a full day of sleeping and starting the antibiotics, I'm finally feeling a little better. So I told Josh to take Riley on a walk. I knew he needed to get out of the house and enjoy this beautiful day for at least a few minutes.

So, that's why I'm sick and spoiled right now.

And to all of my prayer warriors out there, please pray that Josh and Riley do not catch this junk I've got. Thanks!

In other news, it seems that Riley truly blossomed over the Thanksgiving weekend. She rolled over for the first time! Josh and I both got to see it, so that was neat.

In addition, she has become really alert and observant. I know this will sound crazy, but I believe she has learned "Itsy Bitsy Spider." My mom did it with her for about an hour on Saturday and she eventually started putting her hands together and doing it with her. I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't witnessed it with my own eyes. Next time you see her, you can do it and watch her try to do it with you. Precious!
