Dream Come True

*WARNING: Don't read this post if romantic stories make you want to barf and/or pull your hair out.

Friday night's surprise anniversary date was just that: a dream come true.

I can be quite dramatic at times, but I just don't know how to describe the date in a way that would give it justice. Josh really made me feel like we were on our honeymoon again. Except I know how far we've come in our relationship, so that made it so much better than our honeymoon!

The greatest part of the whole surprise was knowing how much planning Josh put into it. He's usually not much of a planner, so I know he did it all for me. After the evening was over he showed me his written plans. It again reminded me of our honeymoon, when Josh wrote out detailed plans of everyday just for me. How sweet!

Anyways, here's a play-by-play of the evening I hope to never forget:

At about 3:30ish I started receiving texts from Josh saying that he would not be home at 4:00, but I was not to do EMBRACE without him. (On Fridays when Josh gets off work at 4:00, we always do EMBRACE together, which involves delivering food to some of the elderly in a poor part of town.)

Since Josh is often held late at work, I automatically assumed that that was why he wouldn't be home on time. I knew how much he had been looking forward to our surprise date all week, so I figured it had to be something really important to keep him at work late. I also thought that Josh had become way overprotective of me in my "delicate" (pregnant) stage, so that was why he didn't want me to do EMBRACE without him. (Josh later pointed out that he never lied to me... impressive!)

Over an hour went by and I continued to wait for him to come home (I still thought he was at work). I started to think it was ridiculous that he wouldn't let me do EMBRACE without him, but I chose to obey his wishes.

Eventually, he called and told me that Zac would be coming to pick me up and take me to EMBRACE (because I needed a guy to protect me). He told me to get dressed for the date and then he would be ready when I got home and we would still be on time to everything. I did not want to be all dressed up to deliver food, so I decided I could quickly change clothes when I got home.

So, Zac picked me up and took me to deliver food. When I got back in the car from delivering food to the last person, I noticed that Zac had changed the music to country. Before I could say anything, he screamed, "Surprise!" And he pulled out a blindfold (well, it was actually a belt, but it was supposed to be a blindfold). He was taking me to meet Josh on my surprise date!

I dutifully put on the blindfold, but it wouldn't stay up, so I agreed to keep my eyes shut. Josh had made a special playlist of all my favorite love songs, and Zac played it as he drove me to the surprise date.

I quickly figured out we were headed to Barneyville, but I was very excited about that! It's a beautiful ranch, owned by one of the most giving and hospitable couples I know.

When I finally got to open my eyes, Josh (who was decked out in his cowboy hat and boots) was holding my hand and we were facing a picnic table and a peaceful pond. Josh had thought of everything. He knows I don't like bugs, so he had brought bug spray and tiki torches (the kind that keep bugs away). He also knows I don't like germs, so he had brought antibacterial soap. On top of that, he had my favorite food: Rudy's bar-b-q.

We ate the yummy food and watched the sun set behind the pond. It was like the movies. Not kidding. Oh, he also had one last card for me to read over dinner. Ahhhh... romance.

After dinner we went back to the main house to cool off in the A/C and hang out with friends.

I know God has truly blessed me by putting Josh in my life. We've had a tough year, but God carried us through it all and brought us closer together. It is my prayer that all single girls out there will wait to marry a man who is seriously committed to Christ and will seriously commit to his wife. Having a husband who is a strong spiritual leader is better than going on a hundred "dream come true" dates.

Since I didn't have my camera out at Barneyville, I decided to post a picture from another time when Josh was decked out in his cowboy hat. On our way home from our honeymoon in Montana, we had a layover in Colorado. For some reason we were stuck at the Colorado airport for a long time. Josh can't sit still for more than five minutes, so he pulled out his guitar and started strumming. I think people in the airport assumed he was a country singer. They were all staring and I was laughing hysterically. Here's my cowboy:
