New Job

***WE INTERRUPT THE NORMAL BLOGGING FOR A SPECIAL POST FROM THE BLOGGER'S HUBBY***

this is the first time i've blogged since the word blog came into existence and i, like every one of my self-important free thinking friends designed a page and set to typing our deepest thoughts and most meaningless actions. yeah, i was cool. such a pioneer.

alas, i digress.

the subject of this post is an answer to months of prayer. Kelly and I have petitioned the Lord for a while on a couple of subjects. we knew there would be a conflict with work and school at some point, and we prayed God would provide answers. we prayed for an increased income so we could tackle debt and begin saving for a house. we prayed for a job that would allow me to spend more time with my family.

friends, i got a new job, and it IS all those things. in two and a half weeks i will begin work with university landscape company as project manager. its an exciting position where i will be challenged in many ways. I was candid in the interview about the remaining requirements for graduation and informed them that there may be conflicts in schedule. they were happy to work around any possible coursework conflicts. this job gives us a major income boost. I will be working much less than i do currently with the city. i am incredibly impressed with the couple who own the company. i really think its gonna be a perfect fit.

this all began about a month ago, when kelly and i decided to get serious about our budget. kelly worked hard to organize our money folder, and we set to putting a name to every penny. we have been moving in this direction for a while, with many small steps toward financial responsibility. we finally realized that we just couldn't compromise anymore. with the help of the groves family, we lassoed our finances and took control of our lack of economic discipline. not two days later, kelly's sister (who, with her husband runs spherion staffing agency in bryan) called kelly and told her she had the perfect job for me. i sent in my resume, got an interview, etc.

outside of deciding to be faithful with our finances, however small the income, (which i believe to be a catalyst for the positive change in job situation) i did nothing to merit the job. it came to me, and i can't claim any credit. kelly and i were faithful with little, and the Lord has now blessed us with more.

so here we are, at a new phase in our lives. we have grown so much, but what plant takes credit for the rain, nutrients, and sunlight it receives? praise God for his providence!
