*This was not our wedding cake. Sadly, I don't have wedding pictures on my computer. However, when I searched "wedding cake" on google images, this was the first thing that came up and it looked very similar to my actual wedding cake! Funny thing is that I don't remember my wedding cake at all, but I know my colors were sage, brown, and white. The cake had ribbon around it and flowers on top like this one does.
Monday was our one year anniversary and it has been so much fun celebrating it. With the various trials we went through this past year, we know that it is nothing less than miraculous that we are still clinging to each other and in love with each other. By God's grace and God's power we are learning to become one.
So, how have we been celebrating?
Well... if you know me, you know I love receiving letters from Josh. And this week I've gotten one every single morning when I wake up! And there's still another one coming tomorrow. Boy this is fun! The letters just make my heart melt.
On top of that, each letter has hinted at a surprise that Josh has planned for tomorrow evening. I've been told to wear jeans and boots... my favorite! I can't wait to see what we're doing.
On Monday Josh took me to the Cotton Patch, so I could have my favorite food: fried okra. No, that's not a pregnancy craving. It has been my favorite food for as long as I can remember and I even asked for it in the hospital after my surgery at age 11.
Then he did the unimaginable: he accompanied me to the brand new Target that's literally down the street from us! It was so fun to get to walk around one of my favorite places with my most favorite person. He let me explore the store as long as I wanted without complaining at all. He even told me I could pick out two new outfits, but I opted to wait until after I have Riley to get new clothes.
I decided to return the favor by letting him could pick out a toy (boys never grow up). It was a no brainer which toy he would pick. For Christmas I had given him a remote control helicopter. After he opened it and had played with it for about five minutes, I begged him to let me have a turn. You guessed it: I completely crashed the helicopter on my first try. Josh was determined to fix it, but it was not fixable.
Since then Josh hasn't stopped talking about the helicopter he had for five minutes. But I think he's more than made up for it this week. He now comes home from work, greets me, takes a shower (because he has a very dirty job), and goes straight to the helicopter. I feel like we have a little bug flying around the house.Thank you, Josh, for making this week special and for loving me with a Christlike love more and more each day. You are a wonderful leader for our family and I can't wait for all the years to come!
