Late Eight Month Update

Riley turned eight months old on April 27th, but I still wanted to do an update. Better late than never!

What's she like these days? Let's see...

-She LOVES electronics of any kind (or maybe it's just the stuff that Mom & Dad play with... who knows?). That means that she will always choose the cell phone, the remote, or the camera over any toy.

-Still no teeth. This is funny b/c people have been telling me that "she must be teething" since she was three months old. That's because everything goes straight to her mouth and she drools a lot. But still no teeth.

-She is happy chasing her little ball around all day long. It might take her a long time to get to the ball, but she never gives up. She gets there. Slowly, but surely. She plays hard and sleeps hard. Just the way we like it! (And lately she's been crawling on her toes... that's a new thing.)

-My friend Casey was in town a couple weeks ago so we all took Riley to the pool for the first time. There were a few tears, but Josh (an avid swimmer, unlike me) wanted everyone to know that it was not the swimming she disliked; it was the cold water!

-She's incredibly attached to Mom & Dad right now. Everyone is amazed at how quickly she can turn the tears off when they hand her back to me. Hmmmm... never know what to do about this.

-She was sick for a couple days and wouldn't eat much, but now she's back to eating really well again. Has anyone else tried to feed a baby that is constantly sucking her thumb? I'm trying really hard to get her to keep her hands at her side during mealtime, but thumb sucking is a hard habit to break.

-She loves playing peek-a-boo!

That's all I can think of right now. As for us, we've been doing all kinds of fun things. Last weekend we went to see Great Grandma Owen and then went to our annual Mother's Day Brunch. Thanks for hosting, Overbecks. You did a great job! I even got some flowers for being the "newest mom." So fun!

*Ok, so I just realized that Riley is seriously almost 9 months but oh well. Ha!
